New: Marketers Delight 2.1, Feature Box Tutorials & More
It’s really an awesome time to be a Marketers Delight customer.
On Thursday, the DIY crew released Thesis 1.8.3 to all Thesis customers. It came with some new features that increased performance, WP Network support and more.
Unfortunately, the way Marketers Delight 2.0 was coded, it couldn’t support the new update. This is because it was considered a child theme and lived outside of the Thesis installation (woops).
Thesis uses a “skinning” system, which basically means you have to create your custom designs inside of Thesis, rather than outside.
When I created Marketers Delight 2.0, I made the decision to code it as a child theme based on the following things:
- From researching around the Thesis community, I decided that child themes were the superior way to go
- Child themes are making a huge splash in the WordPress community, and I figured this was the way to do it
- A few other Thesis designers I’ve talked to were in love with child themes over skins
In short: if this wasn’t Thesis, child themes would be the way to go. But since I believe choosing anything over Thesis is wrong, then child themes are also wrong. ๐
So from the ‘transition’ from a child theme to skin, Marketers Delight 2.1 now fully supports the Thesis design system and will be more futureproof for future updates.
New Features in 2.1
I also took the liberty of adding a few new features to Marketers Delight 2.1 that I think you’ll enjoy:
3 Column Footer
Marketers Delight 2.1 comes out with a bang, and introduces an awesome 3 column widgetized footer. Widgetized, meaning you can add new content to your footer just like you could with your sidebar.
And what that means is you can add all the custom Marketers Delight widgets, including the optin form, popular articles, orb lead and more. You have the potential to build just an absolutely gorgeous footer.
Here’s how it looks on the demo board. This literally took me 5 minutes to make:
Single Post Only Optin Form

MD2 makes optin form management the easiest you'll ever see
In the MD optin widget, you now have the ability to display an optin form on a single post page only.
So, if you don’t want too many optin forms on the homepage, you can simply check the “Show on single post only” button, and rock a single post optin form with ease.
Easier Share Button Management
Rather than toggling all your Twitter, Facebook and Google+ share buttons at once, you how have separate controls for disabling/enabling share buttons on posts and pages. Neat, huh? ๐
Bug Fixes
There have also been plenty of bug fixes which have been added to the changelog after you upgrade to 2.1.
Upgrading Instructions
Since MD2.1 is now a skin, the upgrading process is a little different. But, the upgrading and installation instructions have been well-documented in the docs section.
New Feature Box Tutorials
The documentation for Marketers Delight is pretty extensive. It goes over everything from installing the skin, to customizing it with gorgeous buttons, optin forms and more.
Now, it teaches you how to create a kickass feature box.
The feature box built-in to Marketers Delight is already pretty great. But, combine it with these extra tutorials, and your site will look even more incredible.

The Community Reaction to Marketers Delight
In short: people love Marketers Delight. Here’s a little look around the community at what people have been saying about MD2, and how some have used it to create an amazing site:
I am buying Thesis because of your theme (skin).
I own all the major landing page style themes for WordPress, but they all have a fundamental issueโwell actually they are at polar opposites of the same issue. They either have crappy looking web form options or info-marketer style onesโboth of which have a negative impact of conversion when marketing to a โdiscerning audience.โ Your theme is the perfect balance of both worlds.
People who have been designing themes for several years and have significant resources at their disposal havenโt been able to do what you have done. You have a very bright future ahead of you Alex. I am looking forward to seeing (and buying) more of your work.
Marketers Delight
…is the shit.
Truly the most valuable theme I’ve ever not-purchased.
Easily worth $5,000 as a custom theme.
Well freaking done.
— Willie Jackson (legacy members got MD2 + 5 other skins free)
Need a WP theme? Get this, its rad.
— Jon Nastor
Great work on MD2. Beautiful stuff. Well thought through.

Holy f*ck! Alex, MD2 looks FABULOUS!

Thank You!
I just want to say thank you to everyone who has purchased and used Marketers Delight on their blog. This is the most committed I’ve ever been to a project, and have some great things lined up for it in the future.
I’m also grateful for all the readers, customers and people I’ve met since re-launching Kolakube 10 days ago. It’s been a great time so far, and can’t wait to keep going.
Until then, see you around the community!

Hi Alex,
Just a word to say that your work is awesome! Congratulations for Marketers Delight 2. That’s a real good job. And since you did a good work with this one, I decided to buy all the others skins. ๐
Thanks Fabi, I’m so happy to hear you like my stuff. ๐
Appreciate you purchasing my skins, I should have more for you to buy soon. ๐
See you around!
Simply the best! These new features take MD2, which was already great, and catapult it way beyond.
Support is awesome, so is the functionality. Anyone considering purchasing would be foolish not to!
Thanks, Alex!
Glad you love it Jason, you have a really nice customization of MD2.
Keep rockin’ it!
Thanks for all your hard work on getting this ready to rock on 1.8.3
Also thank you for the surprise mention/link at the end of the article for http://thecollegestartup.com ๐ !
Thanks a lot Travis! Appreciate the support.
And you have a nice looking version of MD2. Can’t wait to see how you use MD2.1 on it. ๐
The best part is that you keep telling us it’s only the beginning. Can’t even fathom right now where things will be in the future. It’s exciting! ๐
Kolakube community is amazing, the skins are BOMB, Alex is the man…
if you want a blog that will shine, and I mean SHINE from the crowd, be a part of this community, get this skin. Period.
I recall American millionaire businessman John Jacob IV once saying, “Serve the classes, live with the masses. Serve the masses, live with the classes.”
Alex, you definitely fall in the latter.
Thanks for all you do Alex.
And I know you’re just getting warmed up ๐
Brandon, you’re the man! Can’t thank you enough for all the support you’ve shown throughout this. ๐
It really is true that things are only getting heated up. MD2 was just step 1.
I have a whiteboard full of things I want to add and refine with MD2, but plenty of other resources in mind that will not only improve the way you use MD2 – but Thesis and WP in general.
Everyone listen to Brandon, he speaks the 100% truth. ;D
Thanks again man.
2.1 is awesome, and installation was so easy even a caveman…
Glad to hear everything went smoothly dude!
Been waiting for this one. Thanks Alex..
great work as usual. And can we have a magazine or business theme next? ๐
No problem Bruce, enjoy!
“No” on both of those. I hate those styles of themes.
oh..hope you change your mind hehe
I have seen some theis themes and they very professional.
Glad you think so Michael!
Hi Alex,
I am interested in giving MD2.1 a try, but I would need to move the navigation menu either above or below the header to leave room for an ad on my blog page. I noticed that one of the customizations you linked to did just that. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Hey Kevin,
Yes, there is an option to add a menu below the header.
Great work brother. Expecting some really great Thesis Skins just for bloggers not for marketers.
You could use MD for anything really, it just has some extra tools that will help you promote content better. But, my next skin will be pretty…”bloggy”
nice work Alex, congratulations on the improvements.
Can the Single Post Only Optin Form feature also handle separate optin forms across different pages? I want to run different offers with optins subscribing to different lists.
thanks
Hey Paul,
What exactly are you trying to do? You can place as many optin forms as you want in the sidebar.
I’ve received so much incredible feedback on my site and MD2 Alex. I work with global enterprise software companies – I had a marketing executive ask me who designed my incredible new website! I can’t wait to see what new functionality you deliver.
So psyched to hear that Ruth! Think you did an awesome job with MD2 on your own site, and can’t wait to meetup Monday!
Also added you to the post. ๐ Enjoy.
Thanks Alex! You’ve been awesome!
Hey Alex..
FYI, thelast3reps.com/ is ‘under construction’
1) So with this theme, I’d have to cut down my banner (SmallHouseLife.com) ? If so, what’s the size?
2) Does the front page optin take some configuring? Or can I just drop in aWeber code? I’d be happy with it looking like your demo.
thanks, dee
You can upload any banner size into Thesis, really. Sizing depends on what it looks like, and you’ll probably want to keep editing it until it looks right.
There is a detailed guide to help you format the email codes. You really only need to tweak a few little things. But again, detailed docs and a support forum will help you get that set up!
Hi Alex –
I’m not one for leaving long winded testimonials…..BUT serendipitously stumbling across your MD2 theme last week re-awakened my long forgotten love affair with Thesis (it’s been a few years and a few hundred premium themes in between ๐ The truth is – while wanting to test the “page lead” functionality on affiliate sites is what motivated me to buy – simply switching to MD2 and the resulting opt in aesthetic improvement on my personal blog has led to an eye opening increase in new sign up’s over the last few days alone……making $37 and the hour I invested in configuring the theme the steal of 2012 thus far. (and I say that owning just about every premium theme on the market)
Much appreciated ๐
Ian
Means a ton to hear Ian, glad to hear MD is actually driving results. I’ve known it was a good-looking skin, but was always interested to hear if it’s actually been converting like I set out for it to!
Thanks again, and hope to keep you around with the new, awesome features of MD!
Bro Alex, I have not money at the moment so I can’t buy your super theme. I am trying and spending time to earn some money to buy your theme. When I will be succeed then I will buy your theme. Really I am missing your theme. I want to contact with you Can I get your any social media link? I am very small (12 years old) So I have not much money.
