Share buttons don’t need a layout system of their own. In MD they’re a byline item, so you place them the way you place an author or a date.

Choose from 15 buttons, let visitors copy the link or like a post, and turn a line from your writing into a quote worth sharing.

Share Buttons You Place Anywhere

Share is a byline item, so it goes wherever MD’s Byline builder allows.

The end of a post with the Share menu open, showing share buttons and a copy-link field, and X, LinkedIn and Like buttons shown inline

Show a Share menu that opens all of your active buttons and includes a copy-link field, or show chosen buttons inline, with or without the menu. You decide which networks are active, and in what order, by dragging them between Active and Inactive.

  • A Share menu with every active button and a copy-link field
  • Chosen buttons inline, with or without the menu
  • Drag buttons between Active and Inactive, and into order
  • ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini buttons that ask for a summary of the post

Likes That Stay Accurate on Cached Pages

A visitor can like a post once, and the count stays right even when your pages are cached.

The Stream timeline with like buttons and a total like count

Likes are tracked with a cookie, so each visitor gets one per post. Counts load fresh on every page view instead of being saved into the cached page, and each post type can show a Total Likes item in its archive.

  • One like per visitor, tracked with a cookie
  • Counts loaded on each page view
  • A Total Likes archive item for each post type

Quotes People Want to Share

Turn one line from your post into a quote with its own share button.

A quote with a Post to Bluesky button, made with the MD Share Notice block

The MD Share Notice block puts a quote next to a share button for the network you choose. Pick an outline or full-color style, then set the alignment, spacing and padding.

  • Choose the network the button shares to
  • Outline or full-color styles
  • Alignment, bottom margin and padding options

More Features

A few more ways to make the buttons yours.

15 buttons, including AI summaries

Choose from X/Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Email, Comments, Like, RSS, Pinterest, WhatsApp, Bluesky, Telegram, Reddit, ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini. The ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini buttons open a chat asking for a summary of the post, so a reader can have an AI assistant summarize your writing in one click.

Point a button at your own profile

Most buttons accept a custom URL, so a button can link to your own profile instead of a share link. The X/Twitter button also takes a username, with no @ character, which is added to shares as “via @username”.

Email that opens a popup

With the Optins Drop-in active, the Email button can open an MD popup instead of an email link. Pick the popup in the Email button’s Select Popup field.
